This goes out to my friends who got their heart broken,
struggling to get up. I hope this could help you in some way.
What is love?
We all have different answers when we’re asked about love but
the most beautiful, heartfelt one I heard is from the Bible.
“Love is patient. Love is kind. It is not jealous. Love is
not pompous. It is not inflated. It is not rude. It does not seek its own
interests. It is not quick-tempered. It does not brood over injury. It does not
rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things,
believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. If
there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing. If tongues, they will
cease. If knowledge, it will be brought to nothing. For we know partially and
we prophesy partially, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.”
1 Cor13:4-10
One of my idol, Bo Sanchez, wrote an article entitled “Are
you malnourished for love?” After reading it, I told myself, “Wow I think this
article is written intentionally for me!”. It was really a blessing and I want
to share it to you slightly differently.
When you hear the word malnourish, what comes into your mind?
I’m sure you’re going to say, me! HAHA! Malnourished don’t necessarily mean
thin because a fat person could also be referred to as malnourish.
Malnourished means he doesn’t look like one but he’s still
malnourished because he’s eating the wrong type of food.
Let’s say I love candies (which I really do) and decided to
eat nothing else but candies, breakfast, lunch and dinner. What do think will
happen to me?
My hunger will disappear. I’ll probably have lots of energy
from the sugar. But over time, I’d be killing myself because I’ll be terribly
be malnourished.
Spiritual malnourishment is very similar.
If our bodies hunger for food, our hearts hunger for LOVE.
Food is the fuel of the body. And LOVE is the fuel of the soul. Without food,
our bodies die. And without LOVE, our hearts die.
Many people today feed candies to their souls: illegal drugs
or prescription, wrong love, greed for money, s*x. But that’s not the love that
will fill human heart. Your heart won’t get nourished.
Every one of us has a heart wound. We may look strong on the
outside but deep inside, we have a heart wound that must be healed. Some people
have deeper heart wound than others.
Filling our heart wound is the most basic motivation of all
that you do. The only thing that would heal your heart wound is “LOVE”.
A heart wound is a “LOVE TANK”.
If we want to function well in life, our love tank must be
filled.
At the end of the day, the love that can heal our heart
wound is love that is found in RELATIONSHIPS.
-With GOD
-With
YOURSELF
-With
OTHERS
Our relationships will determine your happiness and success
in every area of our life. (Are you malnourished for love? By Bo Sanchez)
The only problem is that our definition of love gets mixed
up with romance. That’s why it causes relationships to fail. We need to break free
from this!
1. Romance says, “I want it now” wisdom urges patience.
Proverbs 19:11 “A mans wisdom gives him patience”
2. Romance says, “This is what I want and it’s good for me”
wisdom leads us to consider what’s best for the other person.
James 3:17 “The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of
all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good
fruit. Impartial and sincere.”
3. Romance says, “Enjoy the fantasy”, wisdom calls us to
base our emotions and perceptions in reality.
Proverbs 19:2 “It is not good to have zeal without
knowledge, not to be hasty and miss the way” (From Boy meets girl by Joshua
Harris)
Love is not just a feeling. Feelings are temporary, it is
a product of a hormone called endorphins. Love is more than that!
God is love
itself. Wisdom comes from God. In order for us to have wisdom, we need to seek it wholeheartedly through praying.
Prayer is the most powerful thing in the world!
Our father in heaven will never disappoint or lie to us. He
will always be there. He will bring heaven to our hearts through his promises
and people. If we know what’s better, God knows best!
Saying “YES, Lord!” even we are faced with difficult
circumstances will bring us harmony with God’s purpose and will. It will always
put us on the winning side of life. It means we trust him because he will never
do anything to harm us.
Prayer is a means of getting things done, God’s way. That’s
why we have to be open and honest when we pray. (Touching God)
God will understand, so whatever mood you are in, whether you’re
happy, sad, confused or angry, just pray. He can take it!
Since God is an amazing God, just sit back and be prepared to be surprised! :)
